EA Sports FC is set to take over from FIFA in 2023, but will the rebranded game include real teams and players?
Following the well-documented end of the partnership between EA Sports and football’s governing body, the popular FIFA series is being rebranded to EA Sports FC from 2023 onwards.
The first details about the new game have begun to emerge, and leakers have hinted at a Women’s Ultimate Team mode and that the Transfer Market could be scrapped. But many are wondering how the rebrand will affect the official licenses the FIFA franchise was known for.
So, will EA Sports FC have real teams and players? Here’s everything you need to know.
While the full slate is yet to be revealed, most of the licensed leagues and teams from FIFA 23 are expected to make the jump, including European competitions like the Champions League and Europa League.
This is because although past games featured the FIFA branding, the licenses were held by EA Sports themselves, allowing them to keep the level of authenticity that has made their projects the number one football franchise in gaming.
Unfortunately, it does likely spell the end of the World Cup in EA Sports FC, as the tournament is produced by FIFA.
While the rebranding of such a long-running series will take some getting used to, fans can rest assured that EA Sports FC will feature the real teams and players they’ve grown to love.
